RockIt 2000 V3 Series DJ Mixing Software - Support FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about RockIt Pro DJ:

Q) RockIt has been working fine, and now when I click the icon, it wants to reinstall the software - why is that?

A) When Microsoft updates Windows (usually most computers are set to do this automatically), it sometimes creates issues with the shortcut created by Window's Installer, which RockIt uses to install. The Installer then thinks that RockIt isn't there anymore, when in fact, it is. The easiest way around this is to create a new desktop shortcut for RockIt, which will alleviate the problem. Here are the instructions for creating a new shortcut for RockIt:

  • Right click on a blank spot on the desktop.

  • Click New.

  • Click Shortcut.

  • Browse to the C:\Program Files\SoftJock\RockIt\32 folder (or wherever you installed RockIt to), and you will find a file called RockIt2000.exe. Highlight that and click Ok.

  • This will create a new shortcut to RockIt, it will of course have no icon, so right click the shortcut, choose Properties, and Change Icon. You will then find the icon, and your shortcut should be good to go. You can then delete the old shortcut that is no longer functioning properly.

Q) I was using the AutoMix feature, and there is now a colored spot or blank area on the crossfader?

A) When the crossfader moves automatically, it does not redraw each little step, to avoid using too many resources that might interfere with the decoder. If there is another window over top of the crossfader when it moves or you change the crossfader in the Config section, it will leave remnants of the window that was over top of it on the background. This is normal behavior to avoid the above mentioned issues. To alleviate the problem, simply click the Jukebox or EQ button on the top menu, then back to the mixer, and it will fully refresh.

Q) I am running AutoMix, and RockIt is skipping Deck B, even though there are tracks in the Queue?

A) If for some reason, RockIt can't load the top track in a Queue, it will skip it, and revert to the player that was just playing. This is usually the result of a filename being changed, as that is what RockIt uses to locate the track. If you have Highlight Broken Links on Queue Load turned on in the Config Section, you will see a yellow exclamation mark on the track in question, which means that RockIt is unable to find the file that that track is associated with. Remove that track from the Queue, and the AutoMix will continue as normal. You can then edit the filename for that particular track, and fix the broken link.

Q) How do I print out a sorted list of my songs in RockIt?

A) Click on the Report icon on the top menu. This will give you the option of exporting your entire track list to a text/CSV file, which you can then import into Microsoft Excel, or another program that accepts CSV files. There, you can sort, print, or do anything else with the information.
