Help!!
Rick, I am having serious issue with the sound card and the software. First, I was not even sure that the card was installed properly. The blue light was on and the computer was not recognizing anything installed. Next, I got it to seem like it is installed and the blue light is on, but then the light just goes out....like it shuts off. I then was trying to map the Rockit program to the sound card and the software just locks up and will not play.
I am having a really hard time getting everything configured and was hoping you could help. I am running a Toshiba Pentium Dual Core with 2 gigs of memory and running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I could really use the help in getting this straightened out for the weekend gig I have.
Thank you

Hard to say Carl, but it sounds like the card is not working properly, and may be DOA...
Most USB sound cards do not require you to load their drivers -- just plug it in, and let Windows add a generic USB driver for it. If you've already installed whatever drivers it came with, uninstall them, take the card out, and put it back in -- Windows should load its drivers.
BTW, I've heard of numerous problems with certain Toshiba laptops over the last year. Certain configurations seem to have issues with audio software, probably due to device driver conflicts. It only appears to be certain models and configurations, but to date, I haven't heard from anyone who has resolved the problem... _________________ Rick C

So Rick, have you ever used this particular sound card? I think I may have figured it out, but not 100% sure. It seems that although I was able to get it to run and play continuous, I couldn't seem to make any changes to the sound. Also, you said to use the windows driver, but on the Turtle Beach paperwork it says not to use the windows driver??? What to do, what to do??
I typically never have a problem with my Toshiba, been using it for a while. I do also have an HP that I need to configure and start using.
Anyway, any insight you have to these issues, along with computer and sound card settings and configuration would be great! I usually use the headphone out on the computer to my board, but the sound quality is just terrible and I figured I need to try something different.
Thank you

Hi Carl,
I don't have the latest model of that card, but we have an older one that is similar (have no idea where, it got lost -- that's one of my beefs with them, they are so small, they're easy to lose).
Anyway, we always run USB cards without installing the included drivers -- Windows seems to handle them better, and allows for less potential conflicts. Also, it requires no configuration, other then telling Rockit to use that particular card for each deck. _________________ Rick C

So that being said, how can you tell if the card is working or not?
you cannot make adjustments to "tweak" the sound _________________ Carl Godfrin

Well, if sound is coming out, it should be working...
As to tweaking the sound, I don't recommend doing that on the computer via the drivers or software that comes with sound cards. Most of the effects and stuff they use are designed for home use, and are usually too taxing for DJ work, and can cause many resource related issues.
I prefer to do any sound processing via a hardware mixer if possible, since it's that much less work the computer has to do... _________________ Rick C

So what you are saying is use the sound card basically for the quality coming out in terms of the clarity, but make all your adjustments on the mixing board your computer is plugged into?
Ok, will give it a shot!!
